Our Sod Installation Process

A healthy lawn starts with getting rid of what's there now, roots and all.

Before

2–4 weeks after spraying

• Application: We apply a commercial-grade non-selective herbicide to kill existing weeds and grass.
• Timeline: This phase takes 2–4 weeks and usually includes more than one application.
• Why it matters: Skipping this step risks old weeds growing back up through your new sod. No installer can promise a 100% weed-free future, but this prep greatly reduces the chance of old weeds coming back.

Once the old lawn is dead, we prepare the soil bed.

Sod cutting

• Excavation: Using a sod cutter or tiller, we remove the top layer of old turf and debris to a depth of about 2 inches.
• Grading: We level the area carefully so water drains away from your home and the new sod sits flush with your driveway, walkways and beds.

Sod installation is a craft that takes more than just laying grass.

Install day

Right after install

• Quality check: Every pallet is inspected when it's delivered. If the sod doesn't meet our standards, it doesn't go in the ground.
• Staggered seams: We fit each piece like a puzzle, staggering the seams and making precise cuts around the curves of your property.

New sod is vulnerable for the first few weeks. With the right care and correct irrigation, it roots in fast. This is the same lawn one week later.

One week later, with correct irrigation

• Insecticide & fungicide: We recommend a professional application within 24–48 hours of installation to keep pests and fungus away from the new roots.
• Irrigation: We set up your irrigation timer before we leave, so your new sod gets the right amount of water for the season.
