The Short Answer: $1.50 to $3.00 per Square Foot

Professional, full-service sod installation in the Orlando area typically costs $1.50 to $3.00 per square foot. With Strada, that price includes removing your old grass and weeds, hauling it away, grading the yard, and delivering and installing fresh sod. We also set up your irrigation timer before we leave.

Where your yard falls in that range depends mostly on the grass you choose and how much prep the yard needs. We measure your yard on a free estimate and give you an exact price.

Examples by Yard Size

To estimate your yard, multiply its length by its width in feet. Add up each section if your lawn is split into a front yard, backyard and side yards.

Lawn sizeApproximate full-service price
1,000 sq ft (about 2–3 pallets)$1,500 – $3,000
2,000 sq ft (about 4–5 pallets)$3,000 – $6,000
3,000 sq ft (about 6–8 pallets)$4,500 – $9,000
5,000 sq ft (about 10–13 pallets)$7,500 – $15,000

These are ranges, not quotes. Your exact price comes from measuring your yard.

What About a Small Yard, Like 20×20 or 500 sq ft?

A 20×20 yard is 400 square feet, and 500 square feet is about the size of one pallet of sod. Our minimum job is 2 pallets, which covers roughly 800 to 1,000 square feet. Smaller areas are priced as a minimum job, so a 400 or 500 sq ft yard costs about the same as an 800–1,000 sq ft one.

If you only have a small area to do, it can make sense to include another section of the yard in the same job. Call us at 407-267-1856 and we'll tell you the minimum price for your grass.

How Many Pallets of Sod Do I Need?

One pallet of sod covers about 400 to 500 square feet, depending on the grass. Divide your lawn's square footage by that and round up. You don't need to work this out exactly: we measure on the free estimate and order the right amount, including the cuts around beds, walkways and curves.

What Changes the Price

Why Some Quotes Are Much Cheaper

A low quote often skips the steps that make new sod last. Laying sod over old grass, or skipping the 2–4 week weed kill, saves money up front, but old weeds grow back up through the new lawn and the sod roots poorly. Before you compare prices, ask each company whether the old lawn is killed and removed, whether the yard is graded, and whether hauling away the old sod is included. Here's how our sod replacement works, step by step.
